Making things that are insanely useful to a distinguished few, that make someone, somewhere (mostly me) laugh, or go "holy shit that's cool" is essentially my life's work at this point. Primarily by making ass-backwards awful-in-the-good way mods or games, a good chunk in VR (but I'm slacking big time (I used to be better about it (I've got something cool in the pipe, trust (it will run at 3 FPS on a 3090)))).
I started off doing VR (tantalized by the desire to play Beat Saber) with an Xbox 360 Kinect, google cardboard, joycons, and my dad's Windows 7 s*#box and got it all working for two glorious minutes before the seven simultaneous trials ran out. I then waited another year or so for an Oculus Quest 1 (which worked properly for maybe a month until I tried to do anything half-decent with it), and it was all downhill from there (mostly because of the quest itself, but also the rabbit hole). I failed a semester of chemistry because I was too busy writing Beat Saber mods (and then wrote a Titanfall 2 modding tool on a ThinkPad running macOS during the summer school to make it up). My favorite type of fun is type 2.
This team (notably SpiritChunker and Onion) are a big (if not *the*) reason I'm doing what I am. Seeing the "you can just do things" mindset in action was *hugely* inspiring, and led me to writing my own software because pre-existing tools didn't have the facilities to do what I was wanting to do, and opened me up to communities that helped me through a rough time socially.
